Celebrating Fall in Law School

For those of you who don't know, October is my favorite month: Post-Season Baseball, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Halloween, Football and Homecoming plus all the fun fall experiences. However, October also happens to be some of the busiest time in law school: moot court, journal, LRW, your cousin's wedding, and starting to feel the finals panic all happens around this time too. So how can law students get ~festive with fall~ with still balancing school?

Indulge in Fall Foods: Can you say pumpkin spice latte? What better way to celebrate fall and keep up with school work than having pumpkin flavored coffee? If pumpkin spice isn't your thing, there is always apple pie and apple crisps. Make sure to stop by your local farmer's market (a fun fall activity) and pick up some of these veggies that are now in season: broccoli, kale, green beans, peppers, potatoes, and cauliflower to name a few!

Watch your Favorite Teams: On Saturdays, I love to get work done, but I also LOVE college football. Pretty much all day, you can find me studying with a game on in the background. My favorite teams are the Mizzou Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys. There's always a game or something going on in town too, so sometimes I'll go to the game in person.

Dress Up for Halloween: Law school is probably one of the last times you can actually dress up for Halloween without people thinking you are weird. Depending on where you live, you may get trick or treaters that you can dress up for, or you may dress up for a Halloween party. Some of favorite law schools costumes are Elle Woods, judges, or dressing like your casebooks.

Make time for Fun Events: Fall is a great time to go apple picking, to a corn maze, to the pumpkin patch, or to a tailgate. Law school is tough, but you don't have to spend all of your time studying. Plan a fall event with your friends. Make sure to get your studying done before or after it, so you don't fall behind, but you deserve a break!

Go to any Law School Related Fall Events: My law school hosts a trick or treating day for the children of faculty and students. It is so fun to see the kids- and some professors- dressed up. My law school also hosts a Halloween Party every year. These are great ways to have some fall fun without feeling like you are missing out on school stuff.

Decorate your Apartment or House: Putting up some fall decor is a great way to get in the fall spirit! Some pumpkins, maybe a ghost or skeleton, some leaves, etc. All it takes is a few minutes to decorate your place, but it can really make you feel like you are celebrating fall!

What are some of your favorite fall activities?? Leave them in the comments!
