Summer Recap and 2L Year

I feel like I've been MIA for the past couple weeks, but I am back! These past few weeks have been crazy with finishing up my internship, moving back to school, on campus interviews, and starting my second year of law school! All VERY exciting things.

This past summer, I interned with the US Attorney's Office in Kansas City, Missouri. I worked in the Civil Division, which meant I had the chance to work on a lot of different types of projects. I worked on projects that related to my 1L studies of Torts, Civil Procedure, and Legal Ethics. I had an amazing experience working and also exploring the city. In fact, I hope to return to Kansas City at some point in the (relatively near) future.

I just started my 2L year, which is probably the busiest year of law school, but perhaps the most fun. This semester, I am taking Evidence, a prep course for a family law mediation clinic, Corporations, and Bankruptcy. So far, I really enjoy my schedule, and I am looking forward to learning more about these subjects. In addition to classes, I am serving on two executive boards in three positions. I am very passionate about these organizations, and I am excited to give more of my time to them. I also will be working for the Admissions office, meeting with and working with prospective and admitted students. I love having the chance to work with this office because the people in Admissions are amazing and part of the reason why I attended the school I did. Like many of my classmates, I am participating in moot court, which is an internal oral advocacy competition. We haven't gotten the prompt for it yet, but I am so excited and can't wait. Many of my classmates are also on a Journal or Law review, which I am not doing, mostly because I don't have the time. Moot court and journal/review are two huge extracurriculars that many (if not all) law students do in their second year of law.

My plans for next semester are still up in the air. There are a ton of classes I want to take before I graduate, but what I take next semester depends on what is available. I will be doing more work for my executive board positions in the spring semester and will (hopefully) be in the family law clinic.

It is looking like it will be a busy year, but I am very excited and ready to take it on!
